Kendrick Lamar's halftime show at Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans has been a hot button ever since he was announced as Apple Music's performer. From N.O.-based artists taking issue with the greatest rapper from their city, Lil Wayne, seemingly snubbed from the spot they felt was rightfully his, all the way to threats of lawsuits from Ol' Drizzy trying to prevent K-Dot from performing his hit "Not Like Us." Since the historic performance, which broke Michael Jackson's record for viewership, the shit across social media has been even more polarizing.
Love him or hate him, Kendrick took a sledgehammer to that stage and had the whole world, outside of Canada and "Whiteisrightistan" bobbing their heads and crip walking over some snacks. Call me a homer, but Compton will always leave its mark on hip-hop. Book it.
Thing is, I saw so much more about our American situation culminated in this performance, and it had nothing to do with whether you thought it was good or not.
