Following concerns over maternal deaths and cases of deteriorating health among pregnant women, the Rajasthan Health Department has placed maternal and child healthcare on top priority.
Acting on the directions of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Chief Secretary V. Srinivas has taken direct charge of monitoring maternal and child health services across Rajasthan. For the last four days, healthcare arrangements, high-risk pregnancy cases, treatment protocols, referral systems, and hospital preparedness have been continuously reviewed.
The government is focusing on ensuring timely and quality treatment for every pregnant woman, especially those falling under the high-risk pregnancy category. Special attention is being given to early identification of complications, regular medical examinations, safe institutional deliveries, availability of specialists, and effective coordination between health centres and major hospitals.
The department is also working on innovative initiatives such as Prasav Sakhi, aimed at providing pregnant women with guidance, emotional support, medical coordination, and assistance during pregnancy and delivery.
Officials are monitoring maternal and child services at the ground level to identify shortcomings and strengthen treatment facilities. The objective is to reduce maternal and infant mortality, improve accountability, and ensure that pregnant women receive proper care without delay.
