Ever thought about making a desk out of end grain? In this video, I take the idea of end grain parquet flooring and flip it on its head — turning it into a custom end grain desk build made entirely from timber offcuts.
I walk through the full process of milling, gluing, pattern design, and flattening — essentially creating an end grain board on a massive scale. Along the way, I dive into the big question every woodworker faces: can you glue wood that moves to something that doesn’t?
From concerns about wood movement, moisture, and cracking, to experimenting with epoxy and creative inlay work, this project became a long-term experiment in how far you can push the rules of woodworking.
