In this video we look at the hidden history underneath Manchester Victoria station. The main station building is a fine example of Edwardian railway architecture. Built in 1909. But the building actually dates back to 1844 and is part of the history of The Lancashire and Yorkshire railway company. We go underground the the subterranean levels of the station undercroft. We encounter underground mysteries that form part of the lost history of this wonderful piece of Railway architecture. An old bridge, an old well and some odd very curious machinery is what we encounter on this urbex historical journey into Manchesters past. We see how the station interacts with the river Irk which is underground in a culvert at this point. We look at the historical plans of the station. This is an underground journey into the history of Manchester and its main railway station.
