The Elton John Story is a 6-part radio series, written and produced by well known radio host Paul Gambaccini. It was produced for and aired on BBC Radio 1 in 1976.
Part 4, ‘The Bitch Is Back’, sees Elton return to America, sells out a nationwide tour, make history with John Lennon at Madison Square Garden, and achieve the biggest hit of his career.
Woven in amongst Paul’s narration are interviews with Elton, Bernie and many of their early collaborations such as Nigel Olsson and Gus Dudgeon amongst others .
This recording was taken directly from a tape recording of the initial broadcast and shows signs of being 50 years old, but it is a very informative and interesting listen, nonetheless.
