Timber carriers are unique cargo ships structurally optimized to haul raw logs and processed wood products across rough open seas. Rather than sealing all freight inside traditional cargo holds, these vessels are specifically configured to stack massive log bundles directly out on the open deck, maximizing high-volume storage capacity.
To safely manage the intense top-heavy loads and shifting forces, the hull structures are reinforced with extra internal steel framing. The massive rounded piles of wood running along the length of the ship are lashed down using heavy chain networks and tension winches, ensuring the timber remains secure during rolling wave motions.
