Description
C8L is TCL’s new upper-mainstream TV for 2026, the successor to last year's C8K. It is positioned below the flagship X11L and above C7L in TCL’s 2026 SQD mini LED range.
C8L now comes in the popular 55-inch screen size, which C8K skipped entirely. The backlight is updated with more dimming zones and more precise control and it can reach higher peak luminance. The quantum dot layer is also improved, giving you a wider color gamut and more accurate colors. In addition, the new model has better light reflection handling, better viewing angles, has Dolby Vision Filmmaker mode, and, in the future, it will support Dolby Vision 2 Max.
From the demos I've seen, the HDR performance is definitely improved, with brighter and more precise specular highlights, especially with Dynamic tone mapping engaged.
Still, I think that for the vast majority of us, C7K or C7L is an optimum choice for all types of content. For those who want better bright-room performance and more impressive HDR, C8K and C8L are the way to go.
