Description
Tallinn’s architectural character comes from the contrast between its medieval cityscape, industrial heritage, and contemporary urban development. Rather than treating history as something separate from modern life, the city often incorporates existing structures into new public and cultural spaces. The Tammsaare Park Pavilion, Rotermann Carpenter’s Workshop, and Rotermann’s Old and New Flour Storage show different approaches to working with the existing urban fabric, from small-scale public interventions to the transformation of former industrial buildings. Together, these projects illustrate how Tallinn’s architecture can preserve traces of the past while responding to the needs of a changing city.
