Struggling to get your DIY concrete panels out of their molds?
After letting your concrete strengthen for a minimum of three days, a slight alternating flex of the mold from end to end will usually release the casting. (Bonus tip: coating your molds in wax beforehand gives the concrete a perfectly smooth, shiny finish!).
If your casting is still stubbornly stuck, here is my favorite trick: apply gentle heat to the plastic using a hair dryer or heat gun. The warmth will slightly expand the mold and free the concrete.
⚠️ The Safety Rule: Keep the heat gun moving continuously over the entire mold for approximately 1 minute. You want the plastic to be warm to the touch, not hot, so you don't accidentally warp your mold. That is all it takes!
