Today did not go how we expected.
Someone brought a baby deer to our house, and because he had already become used to people, it was a complicated and sad situation. The kids and I spent time caring for him, washing him up, feeding him, and giving him as much love as we could before it was time to say goodbye.
It was a beautiful, heartbreaking day — one of those unexpected experiences we’ll never forget.
