The Roland FP-40 replaces the hugely popular FP-30X, but Roland hasn't changed everything. It retains the excellent PHA-4 Standard weighted keyboard mechanism, while making some significant improvements elsewhere.
In this short video, Tony White from Bonners Music looks specifically at what FP-30 and FP-30X owners will gain by moving to the new FP-40.
Some of the biggest changes include:
• New Roland Piano Reality piano technology
• Recalibrated keyboard response to work with the new sound engine
• Completely redesigned speaker system
• New speaker positioning projecting more sound towards the player
• USB-C with MIDI and digital audio
• Bluetooth Audio and MIDI
• New Piano Sphere learning and practice platform
• Redesigned FP-series cabinet
So, is it worth upgrading?
The FP-30X is still an excellent digital piano, but the FP-40 moves the playing experience forward, particularly in the piano sound and redesigned speaker system. Those are differences you'll experience every time you sit down and play.
