Red Faction hit the PS2 25 years ago - Red Faction also hit the PC 25 years ago, but that’s not the focus here. I wanted to look back at one of my favourite FPS games of that era, and try to encapsulate what it was about this rough around the edges, sometimes dull, underutilised vehicle for Geo-Mod destruction game that still endures to this day.
With obligatory mentions of Red Faction II, Red Faction Guerrilla, and Red Faction Armageddon - even if the video isn’t strictly about them. RIP in peace, Volition. You made two good Mars-based games, one bad Mars-based game, and one bad Earth-based game with Jason Statham in it.
