This isn't a particularly good clip, but it does show you some of the things I'm working on.
QRP Portable testing JS8Call for Android. While the EMCOMM community keeps developing desktop apps for Windows, Linux, MacBook, some clever devs are building mobile apps for data communications.
The benefit of mobile devices for data mode Communications is efficiency. Mobile phones and tablets are far more energy efficient, easy to charge, and much lighter weight then their portable computer counterparts.
For emergency tools, we have Winlink on Android, APRS on Android, and now JS8Call on Android. The ham radio dev community is finally moving out of the dark ages.
I do understand there's some other data mode tools for ham radio emergency Communications preceding these. The difference is in the quality of the development, and the usability of the graphical user interface. We're definitely moving forward.
