Happy belated Lunar New Year, everyone!!
It's been a hectic couple weeks, so my apologies for not getting a video out sooner. A few weeks ago, I made a trip to LA to record some YouTube videos with friends, and this is one of the collaborations I did!
Wesley and I met back in 2012 at a piano summer camp in Banff, Alberta, where I discovered that he was a classically trained pianist who had a passion for video game music like I did. I absolutely loved his arrangements, so I helped launch his YouTube channel called the "Super Piano Brothers".
Fast forward to 2018, I had Wesley arrange a four-hand duet from Princess Mononoke for me because I especially love his Studio Ghibli arrangements, more of which can be found on his channel. This is a three-movement work, with this video being the first movement titled: "Ashitaka's Journey". The title is a mash-up of two popular soundtracks, "The Legend of Ashitaka" and "The Journey to the West", because you'll find both themes interwoven in this unique arrangement.
We're hoping to record the other movements later in the year when we get another chance to meet up!
