## Mandolin Diaries #002
**Tumko Piya** from the film *Shikari (1963)*.
Some melodies seem as though they were born for a particular instrument. For me, *Tumko Piya* is one of those rare compositions that truly comes alive on the mandolin. Its beautiful movement through gentle, expressive, and energetic tremolo passages makes it a rewarding piece to perform.
I have performed this melody on the guitar many times over the years and even recorded a complete guitar version long ago, which is yet to be released. But every time I play it on the mandolin, it feels completely at home.
This episode is also a heartfelt tribute to my first teacher, **Shri Prem Raj Sharma Ji**, who introduced me to this beautiful piece on the mandolin and inspired my love for the instrument. Though he is no longer with us, his teachings and memories continue to be a part of my musical journey.
