Episode 02 | Expanding a Melody (Gat) Through Alaap
In this second episode of the **Guitar Excellence** series, we explore a practical performance concept that can significantly expand melodic expression on the guitar.
Rather than playing only the written gat or composition, we learn how to use one of its phrases as a bridge into **spontaneous alaap**, improvise freely while the tabla continues, and then return with precision to resume the melody from the intended beat.
This approach allows a simple composition to evolve into a much longer and more expressive performance without losing the rhythmic framework.
