Mega producer, Nuggets curator, Patti Smith's right-hand man, and now, a solo artist in his own right. Goin' Local offers a peek into Lenny Kaye's inner world, a goldmine of rock excellence on guitar and pedal steel. "I’ve learned how to be myself, to be at one with my instrument, with my creative spirit," says Kaye, "and I guess the truest Goin’ Local is the privilege to go inside my own head, and hear how I sound to me.”
And as Kaye is no stranger to collaboration, the album features an all-star cast to back him up. Patti Smith co-wrote "Solstice" while "Let's Make a Memory" features jazz pianist Matthew Shipp, ""Pennsylvania Girls"" features Tim Carbone of Railroad Earth on violin, and David Mansfield provides a string arrangement on the final track, "Yes I Will.""
