I was asked to join in a fun collaboration by Tammy (MTN Grandma) and Tina (Life in the Piedmont). It is a month long collaboration of all things cake! #CakeFest2026
This cake idea came about because of an “oopsie”. A wedding cake layer that fell! So to keep from wasting it, I came up with this idea.
Cake ingredients:
1 375 gram box of cake mix
A little less than 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
273 ml water (about 1 1/8 cups)
52 ml vegetable oil (about 3 1/2 Tbsp)
1 tsp pure almond extract
1 tsp vanilla extract
3 eggs (or 3 egg whites)
Frosting ingredients:
5 oz (10 Tbsp) salted butter
1/4 cup shortening
1 lb powdered (confectioners) sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp pure almond extract
1 - 6 Tbsp water (or milk)
