After a month and a bit of grinding on and off, I finally managed to get the maximum grade possible without going for the invisible roll.
This run's back half was ridiculously clean for my standards, I rarely reach S4 before 700 and never entered 900 with S8. I had reached S9 twice before but I managed to keep the roll relatively under control this time to finally get the maximum rank I feel I can get at this moment. A huge insight that helped me get higher grades overall is that past S4 and level 750, each Tetris gives half a grade, so I could keep track of things a lot easier.
For anything below Master rank, reaching the credits adds a green underline to your leaderboard entry, and beating the credits adds an orange line. These lined entries score higher on the leaderboard than the same grade with no line, orange line grading above green line, so orange line S9 is the best you can do below master.
Getting up from here is a significant wall though, as to get awarded the Master rank you need to reach the invisible credit roll. This introduces numerous Tetris and section time requirements on the entire run, and I am nowhere near fast enough at the moment to get anywhere near that. I cleared the first section under those requirements maybe twice ever, and i would need to save over a hundred seconds on this time to make the full run time requirement. Once you do reach the invisible credit roll though, your final challenge is to manage to play a minute or so of fully invisible Tetris, and then you can claim your Grand Master rank.
