POV: making a Hot Toddy on a cold day.
One of those drinks that feels older than cocktail books. Whiskey, hot water, honey, lemon, a little spice — nothing complicated, but everything has to be in the right place.
The Hot Toddy goes back to the old British and Scottish tradition of mixing spirits with hot water, sugar, and spices. It was a drink for cold weather, long nights, and, honestly, just feeling a little more human when it’s freezing outside.
The main thing with a Toddy is don’t boil the whiskey and don’t turn it into sweet tea.
