Description
**You respect your friends' feelings… but what about your parents?**
You think about how you speak to your friends. You consider their feelings, respect their preferences, and try not to upset them. But when it comes to your own parents, do you show them the same consideration?
In this powerful reminder, Abu Mussab addresses a growing problem: children who fail to appreciate the sacrifices their parents have made for them, and who treat their parents as though they were simply friends or equals.
Allaah commands us in the Qur’aan to show kindness to our parents, speak to them with respect, and lower the wing of humility out of mercy for them.
Our parents sacrificed their time, energy, sleep, and resources to raise us. Yet some children grow up taking those sacrifices for granted, arguing with their parents, speaking harshly, and prioritising their friends over the people who raised them.
Abu Mussab reminds us that **being good to our parents is not optional, and we cannot take their sacrifices for granted.**
The Prophet ﷺ warned us about the serious consequences of mistreating others, even animals. So what should we think when we mistreat the very parents Allaah commanded us to honour?
This is a reminder for all of us to reflect on our behaviour, correct our shortcomings, and make the effort to treat our parents with the kindness and respect they deserve.
May Allaah help us honour our parents, forgive their shortcomings, appreciate their sacrifices, and make us a source of joy for them. Aameen.
