Description
**“But back home, this is how we do Islam!”**
How often do cultural traditions become an excuse to go against the Sunnah?
In this clip, Abu Mussab addresses a common issue among Muslims: putting the practices of our families, communities, or countries ahead of the guidance of the Prophet ﷺ.
Whether it's something our parents taught us, a tradition we've followed for generations, or a practice people insist is part of Islam, the question remains: **Does it agree with the Qur’aan and Sunnah?**
Abu Mussab reminds us that following the Sunnah begins with the fundamentals: fulfilling our obligations and staying away from what Allaah has prohibited. We shouldn't allow cultural expectations or the phrase “back home” to override the evidence.
Our families and cultures may shape us, but they are not the ultimate authority in matters of religion. Islam is not defined by what people happen to practise in a particular country; our beliefs and worship must be guided by revelation.
The goal isn't to disrespect our families or cultures. It's to put the guidance of Allaah and His Messenger ﷺ first.
**💬 Have you ever heard someone justify a religious practice by saying, “That's how we do it back home”?**
