How Does a Hernia Develop? | Anatomy Explained

Dr. R. K. Mishra Guide 2 days ago

Description

A hernia develops when an internal organ, intestine or fatty tissue pushes through a weak area in the surrounding muscle or connective tissue. Increased abdominal pressure from heavy lifting, chronic coughing, constipation, pregnancy, obesity or straining may contribute to its formation, particularly when an abdominal-wall weakness is already present.
This educational video explains how common inguinal, femoral, umbilical and incisional hernias form. It also covers typical symptoms, including a visible swelling, discomfort and pain that may worsen during coughing, lifting or straining.
Sudden severe pain, vomiting, abdominal swelling or a firm lump that cannot be pushed back may indicate obstruction or strangulation and requires urgent medical attention. This content is for education only and does not replace professional medical advice.
