Road trip season is here, so I gave my Tesla Model X a proper summer upgrade — red brake calipers, new summer tires, a blacked-out logo, and a fresh round of bucket list cross-offs on the wrap. Oh, and a long-overdue service visit that came with a bill I wasn't fully prepared for.
The Model X Plaid normally ships with red calipers — but as one of the first owners in Austria, mine didn't. These are cover calipers from Hansshow, and I walked through the full install: rear wheels first (easy), then the front (trickier, more parts, tighter fit). Spoiler: the 20-inch summer rims clear them fine, the 19-inch winter rims do not.
If you own a Model X and still have it under warranty, there's one specific thing I found during the Kfz-Pickerl inspection you should check before the 80,000 km guarantee expires — I cover it in the video.
What's covered:
- Hansshow red brake caliper install on Tesla Model X Plaid (front + rear)
- Summer tire swap from 19-inch winter to 20-inch summer rims
- Rim compatibility check: do 19-inch rims fit with cover calipers? (No.)
- Blacked-out Tesla logo
- Bucket list car wrap touch-up
- Austrian Kfz-Pickerl after 3.5 years and 90,000 km
- Full service cost breakdown for a €130,000 Tesla Model X
