Description
Chef Nikita Pathakji won Great British Menu 2026 with her Seared Halibut with Malaysian Fish Head Curry — a dish inspired by Harry Potter’s Draught of Living Death and rooted in a family recipe passed down through her mother’s kitchen.
Now served as a permanent signature dish at MAAI in Clapham, this dish brings together Malaysian fish head curry, perfectly seared halibut, fried okra, baby aubergines, sambal salad and a potato-stuffed chilli.
We also hear from Nikita and her family about the story behind MAAI, the pressure of cooking in the GBM kitchen, and what it means to turn a nationally recognised competition dish into a signature dish served every day in their own restaurant.
