Description
Ehrenbreitstein Fortress (Festung Ehrenbreitstein) is built on the east bank of the river Rhine, 118 meters (388 feet) above the Koblenz city. It was built by Prussia in 1817-28 as part of defense system of Rhine Valley after an earlier fort at the same site was destroyed by France in 1801. It is UNESCO World Heritage site.
