Description

#shorts Diane and I have been observing these eagle chicks in their next every time we go for a walk at Dungeness Recreation Area. The firsts time we saw the chicks was April 26th. The second time was on May 14 when the chicks looked more like juvenile eagles than fuzzy-headed chicks. The third time we visited this eagle’s nest, it was clear that “Dungy & Spit” (I named them for this location near Dungeness Spit) were just about ready to take flight for their first time!

Dungeness Recreation Area, a Clallam County park is located just a mile away from our house and is one of our favorite parks for going on nature walks with Skye, our Norwegian Elkhound.

The Dungeness Spit area, which is within the Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge, can be accessed at the far end of the Dungeness Recreation Area campground. Hikers can follow the beach at Dungeness Spit for up to 5.5 miles, going as far as the New Dungeness Lighthouse near the point.
