Description
For years, the Wuhan Institute of Virology in Wuhan, China, has been at the center of a storm of theories about where the coronavirus pandemic began.
The former head of the non-profit Ecohealth Alliance, which was given federal money to research emerging disease threats, said during his 2024 testimony before a House Committee that neither he nor his fellow researchers did anything wrong during their time working in Wuhan. He also continued to back the theory that the Coronavirus likely originated in an animal, which directly contradicts the "lab leak theory."
"There is incredibly substantial evidence that this virus emerged through so-called natural zoonotic origins," Daszak said. "The public nature of our work and our long-standing collaboration with Chinese scientists have made us a target for misinformation about the origins of COVID," he added.
Daszak was later debarred by the Department of Health and Human Services and he’s remained a target of Senate Homeland Security Committee Chairman Rand Paul, who has also continually targeted Dr. Anthony Fauci and others.
