There are several occasions during the 2003 and 2004 seasons when Mark Webber seemed to be working miracles in his Jaguar. Putting it second on the grid in 2004 and a few top five starts in 2003.
But they never translated into good results. The 2003 car was too hard on its tyres and in 2004 Jaguar- well, Ford- had given up, and the car was a dog again. Eddie Irvine had got a podium in a Jaguar, but Webber, who had a season somewhat like Perez in 2012, didn't look like getting there at all.
So- When people say Webber did some glorious things in a Jaguar, are the results somewhat skewed because his qualifying vastly outweighed the race results? And did the new for 2003 qualifying system help with that? Let's have a look...
