Description

July 14, 2026
Arrived here on time right before the Corning job had departed south after they ran around their train after working Bell Carter. I passed them preparing to leave at Solano St so I went straight to this crossing which is the start of this chase where I have filmed several crossings this day on this end of the CFNR West Valley.

This crossing features SP early 90s era signals that were likely installed right before the CFNR acquired this line that's had upgrades overtime by the CFNR with the first upgrades being to the mechanisms and counterweight arms or maybe just the counterweight arms in the late 90s using RARE Modern Industries counterweight arms the original maker of this modal of counter arms before Harmon started making them after they acquired MI. I discovered them on Google Maps and though they were Harmon MI style counterweight arms but was glad to see and finally catch actually original MI counterweight arms. Both Harmon/MI and MI counterweight arms are uncommon to find but the original MI ones are rare to find as you will come across the Harmon ones more. The next change to the signals here would be to its light inserts changed to LEDs likely sometime in the mid 2010s.

California Northern Railroad Genesee and Wyoming Shortline Corning Flyer Job Local freight train on the CFNR West Valley Sub passes through the Fig Lane railroad crossing in Corning, California.
