Bike touring has changed A LOT over the last 25+ years! Darren Alff (the Bicycle Touring Pro) looks back on how technology has revolutionized adventure cycling, making it easier than ever to document and share the experience of traveling by bike.
In 2001, Darren set out on his first bike tour with just a 35mm film camera and two rolls of film—limiting him to just a few dozen photos. Today, thanks to smartphones, digital cameras, SD cards, and cloud storage, modern cyclists can capture thousands of photos and videos, all from a single device!
Without these advancements, documenting a bike tour in this way wouldn't be possible. Technology has truly changed how we explore, share, and relive our adventures.
