This Just In: everyone hates mosquitos. They spread disease, make us itch, and generally provide a nuisance to anyone who's silly enough to walk outside on a nice day. Generally speaking, mosquitoes suck.
So, why can't we get rid of mosquitoes? Would killing all the mosquitoes really affect the world in any meaningful way? Picnics would certainly be a lot nicer.
But, even tiny creatures can have a big impact on the ecological world. So, is it a good idea, or even possible to purposefully make them extinct?
