Building Your Own Capacitors For RF Use

Description

I was inspired by a QSO with my friend about making small value capacitors the other day using the tempered glass for cell phones and it evolved into the use of mica sheets. For the RF builder such as the ham radio operator, I can see some very nice precise values of capacitance being able to be constructed for RF projects, in my particular case, for the tuning of the cathode of grounded grid (GG) amplifiers like the 3-500Z and other similar amplifiers. I would not trust these capacitors in the plate circuit of high power RF amplifiers running plate potentials at the KV level but in the cathode even at 100 watt drive the RMS voltage would not exceed 71 volts. Stay safe working with any level of voltage and current...
