Description
On Afghanistan's front line, dogs lead the way. At Camp Bastion, Cassie and her spaniels Mags and Molly hunt IEDs to protect every patrol.
Step behind the wire with Animal Heroes as we follow the Royal Army Veterinary Corps from the Defence Animal Centre in Melton Mowbray to Helmand’s dust. Meet the raw recruits learning to control fully trained protection dogs, see a tense first bite exercise, and discover how kennel hygiene can make or break a mission. Inside the puppy selection pen, a sharp-eyed expert picks future war dogs, while Britain’s Got Talent finalist Kate Nicholas swaps stage lights for scent work, guiding Gonzo through his first searches. On the training ground, Bracken masters a new explosive odor on the carousel before moving to real lorries. In theatre, Cassie works Mags and Molly on the gates, where a single signal can halt everything. And when injuries happen, the vet team steps in fast.
These partnerships save lives. Watch to uncover the methods, the moments, and the unbreakable bonds you won’t forget.
