Alan Schwartz is a legendary leader in global finance with a career that spans more than four decades at the highest levels of Wall Street.
He is best known as the former Chief Executive Officer of The Bear Stearns Companies, a firm he joined in 1976 and helped shape through roles including Director of Research, Head of Investment Banking, Co-President, President and COO, and ultimately CEO.
He was a member of the firm’s Executive Committee and Board of Directors, guiding Bear Stearns through some of the most defining moments in modern financial history.
In 2009, Alan joined Guggenheim Partners as Executive Chairman, working closely with the leadership team to expand the firm into a diversified global financial services organization with more than $100 billion in assets under supervision.
His work helped transform Guggenheim’s broker-dealer into a full-service investment banking enterprise and positioned the firm as a major force across investment management, advisory, capital markets, and insurance.
Beyond finance, Alan is profoundly committed to public service and philanthropy. He serves on the boards of the Robin Hood Foundation (where he is a former chairman),
MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership, the American Foundation for AIDS Research, the Clinton Health Access Initiative, NYU Langone Medical Center, and other national nonprofits.
A graduate of Duke University, he later served on Duke’s Board of Trustees, the Athletic Advisory Board, and as Chairman of the Fuqua School of Business Board of Visitors.
