Founded in 1983, Bakex Millers is a member of Broadway Group of Companies and stands among the pioneers of grain milling in Kenya. As one of the oldest and most trusted millers in the region, Bakex Millers has played a vital role in providing Kenyan households with premium-quality wheat flour.
Broadway Group of Companies started as Broadway Bakery Limited in 1958, a small-town family-owned bakery. Following severe drought and wheat shortage, the family established their own wheat supply by investing in a Buhler wheat mill with a 150-tonne daily capacity and three 1,000-tonne silos. Bakex Millers was thus formed and became the first private mill in Kenya to feature wheat storage silos.
Today, Bakex Millers has a milling capacity of 625 tonnes per day with 3 Buhler mills. The company also has a wheat storage capacity of 43,000 tonnes with 15 silos. The company's mission is to achieve operational excellence through innovation, deliver world-class flour at fair value and foster an empowering workplace.
Bakex Millers offers several premium brands. Phulka Atta Mark I, Kenya's first premium chapati flour from Africa's first specialized mill, consists of 100% whole wheat milled from the finest Australian wheat. This product guarantees soft, tasty and healthy chapatis, rotis, and puris. In 2025, Bakex Millers introduced Phulka Atta Mark I in a new micro-perforated, breathable premium packaging for the 5kg and 10kg SKUs that preserves freshness, extends shelf life, and enhances softness and flavor.
After the success of Phulka Atta Mark I, Phulka White All-Purpose Flour was introduced as a premium, high-quality chapati and home baking flour milled to the highest standards. Whether whipping up soft mandazis, golden KDFs or fluffy cakes, this flour brings out the best in every recipe.

Bakex Millers recently introduced Ungano, a revolutionary blend of all-purpose flour and Atta Mark 1, expertly milled using advanced technology. Bakex Standard Flour is made from a blend of the finest hard and soft wheat. Fortified with vitamins and minerals, its ideal for biscuits, pancakes, waffles, pastries and pizzas. Bakex Bakers Flour, in either white or brown, can be used for bread, buns and related products ensuring outstanding volume, crumb structure and dough elasticity.
