This one's 2-for-1! The second & third tracks from Every Time I Die's 2009 record, 'New Junk Aesthetic' (my personal favorite ETID album!).
Full disclosure: This video was filmed over a year ago now, but hey --- it's still technically 'new', I guess! I filmed it towards the end of my time in barber school --- after that, I got super busy prepping for the state board exams, & not long after THAT, I ended up joining Trivium, going on tour, & ultimately moving to Florida. Lol! So, yeah -- editing this got put on the back-burner a bit 🤣. I actually have a few other play-through's from this general time period, too --- will get to them sooner or later!
Things have hardly slowed down as of late --- I'm officially done the drum tracking for the new Trivium album (which I am beyond thrilled about!), I just got an apartment, & before long we're heading to Europe for a bunch of the summer festivals. SO STOKED !!!
I'm also going to film some more videos here at the hangar before we leave, but for now --- I hope you enjoy this one! I had always wanted to do an ETID cover, & these two songs just play into each other so well that I had to do them as one. I miss this band.

(I realized while I was learning this song(s) that these were the only 3 cymbals that were used, so I took the rest off just so you could see everything better. Lol)

The sick mix was done by the one-and-only, Declan White! Thank you as always, brother 🤍! Oh &, I made the backing audio stems with an A.I. Splitter --- it turned out shockingly well for this one. Tempo mapped the original song(s) & made my own click for them (lotta tempo changes... I'm not entirely sure that the original was done to a click, because it fluctuated wildly). But mapping it / learning it that way made it that much more satisfying to play. Also allowed me to play the two tracks right into one another --- turned out great!

Honestly, ya'll --- it wasn't all that long ago that I was in a pretty bad mental headspace, so to be where I am now, in my dream gig, about to head to Europe in a month's time to play a bunch of huge festivals... it's all pretty surreal still. I mean, I'm typing this from Trivium's airplane hangar --- I just get to play drums here whenever I want. I still can't even believe it half the time. LOL.
