🇱🇧 ACHRAFIEH FOOD TOUR – BEIRUT’S LEGENDARY RESTAURANTS WITH JOE KODEIH
What happens when two food lovers spend a day eating their way through Achrafieh?
Today, my friend Joe Kodeih and I are discovering some of the most legendary food establishments in one of Beirut’s most iconic neighborhoods.
From traditional Lebanese manakish to unforgettable chicken sandwiches, homemade Lebanese dishes, delicious pastries, and historic restaurants, this is a food tour filled with flavor, laughter, and beautiful memories.
Joe grew up in Achrafieh and knows the neighborhood’s food culture, its legendary establishments, and the people behind them.
Together, we’re visiting places that generations of Beirut residents have loved.
🥐 CHRISTO – TRADITIONAL MANAKISH IN SIOUFI
We begin our food adventure at Christo’s bakery in Sioufi, Achrafieh.
A neighborhood bakery that has been serving traditional Lebanese manakish for 27 years.
We taste freshly baked zaatar, cheese, and cheese-and-zaatar manakish.
The dough is soft, airy, and beautifully baked, with generous toppings and the comforting flavors of a traditional Lebanese breakfast.
It’s exactly the kind of small neighborhood establishment that deserves to be discovered.
🍰 PATE A CHOUX – TRADITIONAL PASTRIES AND CAKES
Our next discoveries take us to Makram, a beloved Achrafieh establishment known for its cakes, pastries, and traditional desserts.
Joe shares memories of the neighborhood gathering around Makram, where people meet for coffee, conversation, and delicious sweets.
We discover cakes prepared with attention to quality, traditional recipes, and carefully selected ingredients.
These are the flavors that remind us of the Beirut we grew up loving.
🥪 LALA – THE LEGENDARY CHICKEN SANDWICH
We continue our food tour with one of Achrafieh’s famous chicken sandwich destinations: Lala.
Joe remembers the history of the establishment and the people who helped make its chicken sandwiches famous.
We discover a sandwich that has been part of Beirut’s street food culture for generations.
Chicken, garlic sauce, fresh bread, and the simple combination of ingredients that makes a great sandwich unforgettable.
🥖 HAJJ NASR – A BEIRUT SANDWICH INSTITUTION
Another essential stop is Hajj Nasr, one of Beirut’s legendary sandwich establishments.
We explore the history of this famous name and discover why its sandwiches have remained popular for generations.
Fresh bread, generous fillings, delicious sauces, and the famous fries make this a destination worth visiting.
Joe shares memories of the original establishment, its loyal customers, and the sandwiches that became part of Achrafieh’s identity.
🍲 LE CHEF – AUTHENTIC HOMEMADE LEBANESE FOOD
Our food adventure continues at Le Chef, one of Achrafieh’s most iconic restaurants.
For decades, Le Chef has been known for its traditional Lebanese home cooking, welcoming atmosphere, and generous hospitality.
We discover a restaurant where the food feels homemade and the atmosphere feels like family.
Traditional stews, Lebanese classics, daily specials, and comforting recipes prepared with the spirit of authentic Lebanese cuisine.
Le Chef also holds a special place in Beirut’s culinary history because of its connection to Anthony Bourdain, who visited Lebanon in 2006.
❤️ THE PEOPLE BEHIND BEIRUT’S LEGENDARY FOOD
This episode is about more than delicious sandwiches and traditional restaurants.
It’s about the people who have spent decades preparing food with passion, preserving recipes, and creating places where generations of Lebanese families have gathered.
From small bakeries to legendary neighborhood restaurants, Achrafieh is filled with culinary treasures.
Thank you, Joe Kodeih, for sharing your favorite food discoveries and introducing me to the flavors of your neighborhood.
