A switch behind a door is not good design, but not an NEC violation.

Description

The purpose of the National Electrical Code is to ensure electrical systems are installed in a manner that protects people and property by minimizing the risks associated with the use of electricity (electric shock/fire).
The NEC is NOT a design specification standard, nor is it an instruction manual for the untrained [NEC 2023, 90.2(A)].
We can all agree that the best "design" is to not locate a switch behind a door. However, if the builder changed the swing of the door, and the switch is behind the door, that's not an NEC violation.
This is because the location of the switch behind the door is not an electrical safety hazard from electric shock or fire.
As for my House, we will serve the Lord [Joshua 24:15].
