Someone reached out to me for help moving crypto out of what they thought was their wallet. What I uncovered was one of the most sophisticated pig butchering scams I've ever seen — and I've seen a lot of them.
A couple had been told that $500,000 worth of Tether had been "donated" to them by a famous public figure they'd built a relationship with online over the course of a year. A financial advisor helped them set up what appeared to be a Crypto.com DeFi wallet. The balance was right there on the screen. The Ethereum they sent showed up. Everything looked real.
It wasn't.
In this video I walk you through exactly how this scam worked — the fake app, the smart contract that silently redirected their funds the moment they sent them, the phony balance designed to keep them from getting suspicious, and the emotional manipulation that made it so hard to convince them something was wrong. The blockchain doesn't lie, and I'll show you what it actually told us.
The red flags were there. I'll show you what they were so you can spot them before it's too late.
⚠️ Remember: If you have crypto in your own self-custody wallet, you should NEVER need to deposit money to get money out. Anyone telling you otherwise is running a scam. Period.
