“Train Robbers” is a nostalgic, funny, serious, warm, sad and poetic coming of age documentary about kids that didn’t fit in at school or the football team. This could have been a film about adult men with drug addiction, prison sentences and split families. But it is not. This is a story about the children that had the future ahead of themselves, but society let down.
During a two year period In the mid 90's, large amounts of goods was stolen from freight trains in Trondheim, Norway. The case got an unexpected turn when the culprits turned out to be boys aged 11 to 15.
ABOUT THE FILMMAKER: Martin A. Walther is a Norwegian filmmaker. In 2019, he co-founded the film production company Walther Bros with his brother, filmmaker Finn Walther. Together, they have produced several acclaimed short documentaries, culminating in the release of their first feature documentary, PET FARM (2024), selected for Thessaloniki IDFF.
