Are Ozlo Sleepbuds worth the money? Short answer: not yet — but they’re very close.

But there’s one app feature that makes nightly use frustrating instead of seamless.

This is the email I sent to Ozlo explaining why it would be better if they added more time options to the Sound Delay feature:
The issue with the Sound Delay feature is not just a personal preference — it is a UX design problem that affects anyone who uses the buds the way they are intended to be used.
The Sound Delay feature is designed for users who listen to a show or podcast first, and then have the white noise sound fade in. However, the available delays (15, 30, 45 minutes, etc.) do not align with the length of most commonly consumed content:
- The majority of TV episodes are approximately 22 or 44 minutes - Podcasts frequently end at non-15-minute intervals
Because of this, the feature consistently interrupts the show too early, or forces the user to select a delay that is too long. This is the opposite of what a sleep-support product should provide.
What I want to emphasize is that this is not a niche use case. This is the intended core use case of the Sound Delay feature.
From a user experience and human-centered design standpoint, the feature currently does not support the real scenario it exists to solve.
When I raised this concern previously, I was told the suggestion would be passed to the team. However, the recent update did not address this at all, and I have now been dealing with this frustration nightly since purchasing the product. To fall asleep comfortably, I now have to either:
Set the Sound Delay to 15 minutes, which means the white noise cuts in before the show actually ends (and before I’ve had time to fall asleep), or
Set the Sound Delay to 30 minutes and then wait approximately 8 minutes before starting my show so that the white noise aligns with the end of the episode — which adds unnecessary calculation and effort to a routine that is supposed to be calming and seamless.
I really want to continue using and recommending these Sleepbuds — they have strong potential. But this issue has a direct impact on the usability and enjoyment of the product.
