In 2007 an unknown wooden three-masted cargo sailing freighter was discovered in the Baltic Sea off Island Fehmarn. Despite of a moderate depth of 26 meters (85 ft) and the overall length of approx. 27 meters (90 ft), noone seemed to know about its fate. In a matter of fact, its mast tips must have been sticking out of the water after the sinking! Looks like a job for the "Wrackforscher".

"Wrackforscher" (German for "Wreck Explorers") is a citizen science community consisting of local recreational and technical divers from Northern Germany. Main goal is private research and identification of wrecks in the Baltic Sea supporting the efforts by the official archaeological organisations. The hobby community operates without any external funding and relies on privately owned diving equipment, boats and infrastructure. All expences are equally shared between expedition participants.
