Description

Today’s parents are busy, stressed, and often overwhelmed — but children still need connection, routine, and supervision.
In this important clip, Dr. Purnachander Sirikonda, MD, FAAP, explains how working parents can still build healthy habits and maintain strong bonds with their kids.

👨‍👩‍👧 Practical ways to spend time with kids:
• Do group activities like walks, park time, cooking, gardening, or gym visits
• Spend 15–20 minutes of one-on-one time daily
• Have meals together
• Involve kids in hobbies, painting, sports, or martial arts
• Keep them active so they don’t rely on screens

😴 Sleep routine tips:
• Kids need 8–10 hours of sleep (younger children)
• Avoid naps after 3 PM
• Keep bedtime calm: dim lights, cool room, bedtime stories
• No gadgets in the bedroom; keep phones in a common area
• Stop all screen use 30–40 minutes before bed
• Avoid caffeine drinks (including sodas!) in the evening

Healthy routines = better sleep, better behavior, and better emotional development.
