Why You’re Always the 'Bad Guy' to a Narcissist

Dr. Daniel Fox Guide 21 days ago

Description

Sometimes the reaction to an event becomes much bigger than the event itself.

For someone with narcissistic traits or narcissistic personality disorder, a relatively small emotional wound can lead to tears, silence, anger, or another intense response. When that reaction becomes the center of the interaction, people around them may stop examining what actually happened and start focusing entirely on the distress in front of them.

That shift can also allow someone to appear like the injured person while continuing to hold a great deal of control within the relationship.

A strong emotional response by itself doesn’t indicate narcissism. The broader and repeated pattern is what matters.
