We’ve officially been in Baja for a few weeks now and let’s just say... it’s been a whirlwind. Between the heat, the dust, and the "abandoned mansion" learning curve, we are finally starting to feel like this place is becoming home. This week was all about the big stuff—literally.
We managed to get our 40-foot shipping container delivered (which was a logistical rollercoaster involving a blown tire and a very stressed crane operator) to serve as the heart of our off-grid solar system. After years of van life and living small, seeing 5.4 kW of solar panels go up felt like a massive win for our family. We officially have power!
But beyond the solar panels and renovation planning, we wanted to make sure we were building more than just a house. We wanted to build a community. So, we invited our new neighbors over, had our dear friends @aubryandnic play some live music, and let everyone "tag" our walls with their well-wishes. There’s something so special about starting this journey with so much love literally written on the walls.
It’s not always easy—there’s definitely some grief that comes with leaving our old life behind—but sitting here with Frankie, watching the sun go down over the desert, we know we’re exactly where we’re supposed to be.
