Dads are advised to uphold the moms, and to never argue with them about their treatment of the kids. I disagree. I feel that it is important for parents to support with each other on a case-by-case basis, rather than give a blanket approval to each other.
Parenting counsellors and child psychologists commonly advise couples to never fight in front of the children. Couples are advised to act as a solid, indivisible unit in front of their kids, to support and uphold each other and never criticize or put down each other in front of their kids. In my humble opinion, such a style of parenting is unfair to children, because they feel isolated and helpless within the family unit.
