Traditional wildlife filmmaking changes forever when Gordon Buchanan hands over the recording gear to the true experts. By engineering custom, lightweight camera collars and harnesses, scientists manage to see the planet from a completely animal-centric point of view. The journey starts in the harsh Kalahari Desert, where wild meerkats test advanced infrared gear inside a massive, pitch-black underground labyrinth to record newborn pups. The focus then shifts to the dense jungles of Cameroon, where an orphaned chimpanzee named Kimbang tests custom, durable gear high in the canopy to prove she possesses the wild survival instincts required to join a new family troop. Finally, the team battles the rough Atlantic waves of Argentina to study a colony of Magellanic penguins during a critical hunting season.
