Description
Pope Leo XIV let his playful side shine! The Holy Father had some fun while posing for photos, dribbled a basketball, and cracked a few jokes as he welcomed around 7,000 Villanova and Notre Dame players, students, staff, and fans to the Vatican on Saturday.
The two university communities gathered ahead of Sunday’s “Eternal City Tip-Off” in Rome, where their men’s and women’s basketball teams will open the college season with a historic doubleheader.
And while the pope is a Villanova graduate, he jokingly assured everyone he was staying neutral: “The pope doesn’t take sides. Prevost has another opinion, but we won’t do that now.”
