“No one is born a champion, just as no one is born a saint.”
One day before All Saints’ Day, Pope Leo XIV reminded athletes and supporters from Villanova and Notre Dame that holiness takes “daily training in love.”
Welcoming them to the Vatican ahead of their basketball doubleheader in Rome, the Holy Father encouraged them to let every part of life—including sports—help them grow in love for God and neighbor.
“Our true goal, beyond emerging victorious in any one event, is to win the prize of everlasting life.”
